Description:Dodecylamine is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of surfactants. It is a non-ionic, hydrophobic compound that has low toxicity and high water solubility. Dodecylamine can be used as a flotation agent in analytical chemistry. The dodecylamine-water system also shows thermodynamic data with an optimum at pH 10.5 and at 25 °C, which is the optimal temperature for flotation. This surfactant has been shown to have transport properties that are similar to ethylene diamine and particle size of about 0.1mm. Dodecylamine can also be used in the synthesis of polyurethanes by reacting with diisocyanates such as 1,6-hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) or 4,4'-methylene bis(phenylisocyanate) (MDI).
