    Product Information

    Name:2,4'-Dichlorobenzophenone
    Brand:Biosynth
Description:2,4'-Dichlorobenzophenone is a synthetic organic compound that absorbs ultraviolet radiation in the wavelength range of approximately 230-300 nm. It is used as an absorber for chromatographic techniques and as a chemical intermediate in the preparation of other compounds. The 2,4'-isomer is more active than the 2,6'-isomer.2,4'-Dichlorobenzophenone can be prepared by chlorination of benzophenone with a mixture of chloride and methyl methacrylate. The resulting product can then be purified by chromatography on silica gel using a solvent system of tetrahydrofuran and chloroform.2,4'-Dichlorobenzophenone has been shown to absorb ultraviolet radiation in the wavelength range of 230-300 nm. This absorption leads to the formation of excited states that are capable of initiating polymerization reactions or initiating free radical reactions with styrene or polystyrene molecules.
