Description:

2,5-Dibromonicotinic acid (DBNA) is a compound that was isolated from the Chinese herb, "Artemisia annua". It has been shown to be cytotoxic and induce apoptosis in mammalian cells. The effects of DBNA on apoptosis were observed using a collagen-induced arthritis model in mice. DBNA inhibits the expression of p53 protein and reduces the rate of apoptosis in cells treated with high glucose or high fat. DBNA also prevents damage to the cells by staining and high fat, which may be due to its terpineol content.
