Product Information
Name:Diisopropanolamine
Synonyms:
- Bis(2-hydroxypropyl)amine1,1'-Iminodi-2-propanol
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Diisopropanolamine is a chemical that can be used for wastewater treatment. It is an amine, which is a chemical with one or more hydrocarbon groups attached to a nitrogen atom. Diisopropanolamine has been shown to react with fatty acids in the presence of sodium hydroxide solution, forming fatty acid salts and amines. This reaction has been shown to result in the formation of biodiesel. The uptake of diisopropanolamine by plant roots has been studied using magnetic resonance spectroscopy and found to be dependent on the concentration of diisopropanolamine solution, pH, and temperature. Diisopropanolamine can also be used as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Chemical structures have been determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR).
