Product Information
Name:Diethyl Phenyl Orthoformate
Synonyms:
- Diethoxy(phenoxy)methaneOrthoformic Acid Diethyl Phenyl Ester
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Diethyl phenyl orthoformate is an organic solvent that is used to synthesize pharmaceutical formulations. It is a reactive intermediate and can be used for the synthesis of esters, ethers, amides, nitriles, and acid chlorides. The diethyl phenyl orthoformate molecule can be activated by catalysis with base or acid. This process requires an activation energy of ˜20 kcal/mol. The activation energy has been calculated to be constant at 20 kcal/mol. Diethyl phenyl orthoformate is also a hydroxy group donor and can be used in efficient methods involving thermal isomerization of alkenes. Diethyl phenyl orthoformate has been shown to react with acetic acid in the presence of heat to form ethyl acetate and water as products.
