Dibenzo[b,def]chrysene (DBDC) is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon that has been found to be carcinogenic in CD-1 mice. The chemical induces tumorigenesis by forming adducts with nuclear DNA and altering its transport properties. DBDC was found to inhibit the activity of rat liver microsomes and hydroxylate quinoline derivatives when incubated with them. It also forms a model system for studying the effects of dibenzo[a,c]pyrene on DNA duplexes and tumorigenicity in hamster V79 cells.
