3,3'-Diaminobenzophenone is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in organic solvents. It reacts with a variety of reagents to form more complex molecules, including the n-oxide and hydroquinone. 3,3'-Diaminobenzophenone is used as a raw material for the production of polyurethane. This compound has been shown to have bifunctional properties and can be used in reactions with thermally unstable molecules such as polyesters and polycarbonates. The reaction between 3,3'-diaminobenzophenone and ethylene oxide leads to the formation of polyurethane foam.
