Description:

1,6-Dibromopyrene is a pollutant that has been found in wastewater. It can be detected by fluorescence properties and is also used as an optical sensor. 1,6-Dibromopyrene can be synthesized from the Suzuki coupling reaction of benzene with bromine or phosphorus pentabromide. This compound has been studied extensively and has been shown to emit light when reacting with oxygen or other oxidizing agents.
