1,3-Di(4-pyridyl)propane is a divalent anion with the chemical formula of [PdCl2(C6H4CH2CH2N)]+. It is a coordination complex that has been used as a catalyst for hydrogenation. 1,3-Di(4-pyridyl)propane is coordinated to palladium and can be reduced by sodium metal to form the monosodium salt (Na[PdCl2(C6H4CH2CH2N)]). The vibrational and electronic spectra of this molecule show a strong absorption peak at 635 nm, which corresponds to the stretching mode of the CH2 group. This molecule can be observed in FT-IR spectroscopy in the region between 1700 and 1800 cm−1. The magnetic resonance spectrum of 1,3-di(4-pyridyl)propane has been measured in DMSO solution at room temperature. The
