1,4-Dibromo-2-fluorobenzene is a chiral compound that can be used to synthesize optically active compounds. It reacts with organometallic reagents in cross-coupling reactions to form new bonds. The 1,4-dibromo-2-fluorobenzene molecule has a fluorine atom at the 4th carbon and the 2nd bromine atom is attached at the 1st carbon. The crystal structure of this compound was determined by X-ray crystallography and mesomorphic properties were observed when it was dissolved in liquid ammonia. This compound has been shown to exhibit fluorescence under optical microscopy and is soluble in chloroform, benzene, ether, and acetone.
