Dihydrodaidzein-7,4'-dimethylether is a demethylated form of dihydrodaidzein which is a pterocarpan. This compound is an inducer of haematococca and nectria haematococca, and can be found in sources such as fungi and protoplasts. Dihydrodaidzein-7,4'-dimethylether has been shown to be active against the fungus Nectria haematococca by inducing production of enzymes that are necessary for cell growth. Dihydrodaidzein-7,4'-dimethylether also demethylates pisatin to form dihydrodaidzein.
