Dihydrokaempferol is a natural phenolic compound found in plants. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of liver cells by blocking the function of enzyme molecules that are involved in fat synthesis and storage. The effect is due to dihydrokaempferol's ability to inhibit the activity of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kB). This molecule also inhibits the expression of genes involved in lipid metabolism, as well as inhibiting glycoside derivatives, which are important for cell growth. Dihydrokaempferol may also have anti-inflammatory properties.
