7,3'-Dihydroxyisoflavone (7,3'-DDI) is an isoflavonoid that is found in a variety of plants. This compound has two enantiomers, the 7R and 3R forms. The 7R form is the more active and potent of these two compounds. The 7,3'-DDI molecule contains a diphenol group and a trimethylsilyl ether group. The compound can be detected in human urine as well as human plasma by mass spectrometry. It also shows strong inhibitory activity against the enzyme acetylcholinesterase which regulates neurotransmitter release at synapses in the brain.
