Product Information

Name:
2',6'-Dihydroxy-4,4'-dimethoxychalcone
Synonyms:
  • Chalcone,2',6'-dihydroxy-4,4'-dimethoxy- (6CI,8CI)
  • 2',6'-Dihydroxy-4',4-dimethoxychalcone
Description:

2',6'-Dihydroxy-4,4'-dimethoxychalcone (DMC) is a molecule that inhibits protein synthesis. It binds to the ribosomes and prevents the formation of an mRNA-ribosome complex, which leads to inhibition of protein synthesis. DMC has been shown to have cytotoxic effects in vitro and significant cytotoxicity in cell culture. This molecule has also shown anti-cancer activity in vivo. In addition, this compound has minimal toxicity in vitro and a neutral pH, which makes it suitable for use with other drugs that require a neutral pH environment.
