Daphnoretin is a coumarin derivative that has been shown to have potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Daphnoretin also has the ability to bind to proteins in vitro, which may be due to its interaction with pro-apoptotic proteins. In vivo, daphnoretin has been shown to inhibit the mitochondrial membrane potential and cause an increase in the synthesis of pro-apoptotic protein. It can be used for therapeutic purposes as it is able to protect cells from oxidative stress. Daphnoretin can be extracted from plant sources such as Etoac extract, which is found in Madagascar. The optimum extraction process for this compound is still not fully understood.
