Description

6,7-Dihydroxyflavone is a flavonoid that has been shown to have pro-apoptotic properties in vitro. It has also been found to decrease the proliferation of chronic oral carcinoma cells and inhibit the production of basic proteins. 6,7-Dihydroxyflavone has also been shown to be neuroprotective against oxidative injury and neuronal death in vivo. This compound is associated with increased locomotor activity and improved motor coordination. In vitro studies suggest that this compound may have therapeutic potential for metabolic disorders and brain functions. 6,7-Dihydroxyflavone can be used to study certain types of cancer cells, as well as skin cancer models in vivo. 6,7-Dihydroxyflavone is also an antioxidant that can protect against lipid peroxidation in vitro.
