4',6-Dihydroxyflavone (4,6-DHF) is a flavonoid derivative that binds to the bradykinin B2 receptor. This binding inhibits the formation of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes, which are involved in cancer cell proliferation. 4,6-DHF is found to be more potent than dexamethasone in inhibiting testicular cancer cells. It has been shown to bind specifically to tissue antigens on the surface of liver cells and testicular cells, which may contribute to its ability to inhibit cell growth. The effect of 4,6-DHF on the b2 receptor may also have an effect on prostate cancer. Studies have shown that 4,6-DHF can enhance the effects of bradykinin b2 receptor agonists and inhibit antagonists at concentrations between 1 µM and 10 µM. 4,6-DHF has been found to be effective
