4-Diethylaminobenzonitrile is a molecule with the chemical formula C6H14N2. It is a colorless liquid that has an aromatic smell. It can be synthesized from acetonitrile and benzonitrile by UV irradiation. This compound has been used in cavity studies where it was found to have a large dipole moment, high exothermic reaction, and high emissions of uv radiation. The compound can also be used as an electrophotographic developer or in analytical chemistry to identify aromatic hydrocarbons. 4-Diethylaminobenzonitrile also has binding constants in hexane that are similar to benzene, which may be due to its resonance effect.
