4',7-Dihydroxyflavone is a flavonoid that has been shown to be an inhibitor of enzymes involved in the synthesis of isoflavonoids. It is also a weak inhibitor of P-glycoprotein, which may be useful for the treatment of infectious diseases. 4',7-Dihydroxylavone has anti-inflammatory properties and has been shown to inhibit the inflammatory response in animal models. The model system used was a wild type strain with a high resistance to 4',7-dihydroxyflavone. This property may be due to the enzyme activities that were inhibited by this chemical, such as cytochrome P450 reductase, cytochrome P450 oxidase, cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase.
