Description

5,7-Dihydroxy-2',3',4',5'-tetramethoxyflavone is a natural product isolated from the roots of the plant Bupleurum chinense. It has been found to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties in vitro. 5,7-Dihydroxy-2',3',4',5'-tetramethoxyflavone has also shown to inhibit human platelet aggregation and to protect against oxidative stress in vivo. The compound has been identified as a secondary metabolite that is biosynthesized from methoxylated flavones through the action of two enzymes, chalcone synthase and chalcone reductase.
