    Product Information

    Name:Diphenylterephthalate
    Synonyms:
    • 1,4-Benzenedicarboxylic acid diphenyl ester
    Brand:Biosynth
Description:Diphenylterephthalate is a hydrocarbon that is used in detergent compositions. It is an aromatic hydrocarbon with the chemical formula CH(CH)CO-C6H4-O-. Diphenylterephthalate has a viscosity of about 2.5 cps, which makes it suitable as a thickening agent in detergents. This compound also absorbs ultraviolet light and can be activated by chlorine or fluorine atoms. Diphenylterephthalate decomposes at high temperatures to form diphenyl ether and trifluoroacetic acid. These compounds have been shown to react with amides and chlorides to form viscosity-increasing agents for detergents.
