4,4'-Dichloro-trans-stilbene (4,4-DCS) is a biphenyl organometallic compound that can act as a catalyst in chemical reactions, such as the oxidation of anthrone. 4,4'-Dichloro-trans-stilbene is also bifunctional, meaning that it has both an electron donor and an electron acceptor group. This property allows 4,4'-DCS to catalyze two different types of reaction at the same time.
