2,4-Dichlorothiazole is a diluent that has been used in the past to dilute pesticides. It is also known as a cholinesterase inhibitor and can be used for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. 2,4-Dichlorothiazole has been shown to inhibit acetylcholine receptor activity by binding to the phenoxy moiety on the acetylcholine receptor. This drug also inhibits c1-c6 alkoxy groups and amines that are responsible for neurotransmitter release. It is not a strong acid or base and does not possess any significant oxidizing properties.
