Dimethyl 3,4-dihydroxy-2,5-thiophenedicarboxylate is an organic compound with the chemical formula CH3COOCH=CHCOOH. It is a white solid that has been used as a raw material in the production of other chemicals. Dimethyl 3,4-dihydroxy-2,5-thiophenedicarboxylate can be produced from benzoic acid and methanol via tetrathiafulvalene catalysis. The yield of this compound is high and it has been shown to have favorable selectivity for the desired product over byproducts.
