Product Information

Name:
Dimethyl Tetrafluorosuccinate
Synonyms:
  • Dimethyl Tetrafluorobutanedioate
Description:

Dimethyl tetrafluorosuccinate is a fluorinated, aromatic compound that has been used as a specific ligand in the study of fatty acid synthesis. It has been found to be capable of inhibiting the production of eicosanoids and cancer cells. The compound is soluble in organic solvents such as chloroform, dichloromethane, and ether. Dimethyl tetrafluorosuccinate is also photosensitive, with a constant wavelength of 495 nm. When exposed to light with an intensity of 10-2 W/cm2 for 1 hour, it decomposes into dimethyl sulfate and elemental fluorine. This compound can be synthesized by reacting dioxolanes with perfluorinated monomers in the presence of an organic solvent.
