1,3-Difluoro-2,4-dinitrobenzene is a chemical compound that is used in the synthesis of diazo compounds. It has been shown to cause dermatitis and oxidative injury in animals. 1,3-Difluoro-2,4-dinitrobenzene also exhibits chemoattractant properties that are mediated by TNF-α and IL-6 secretion. In addition, this chemical compound induces polymorphonuclear leucocytes and inflammatory skin diseases in animal models. It is believed to act as a chemoattractant for skin cells through the release of colony stimulating factor (CSF). The mechanism of action of 1,3-difluoro-2,4-dinitrobenzene on choroidal neovascularization is not well understood but it has been shown to inhibit angiogenesis in an animal model.
