- Methanone, bis(3-fluorophenyl)-
3,3'-Difluorobenzophenone is a fluorinated derivative of the phenolic compound benzophenone. It is used as a photoconductive semiconductor in biotechnology and as an intermediate in organic synthesis. 3,3'-Difluorobenzophenone is activated thermally or chemically to produce a reactive electrophile that reacts with nucleophiles in biological systems. 3,3'-Difluorobenzophenone has been shown to be effective in cleaving α-l-rhamnosidase and α-glucosidase. This activity can be exploited to study carbohydrate metabolism and digestion.
