The 4,5DCFP inhibits PQQR by competing with the substrate pyridoxal phosphate. This inhibition prevents the conversion of nicotinamide to NAD and thereby prevents the synthesis of ATP. As a result, 4,5DCFP is used as a medicament for cancer treatment.
