Tetraacetyl-2-(3-hydroxy-2-(3-hydroxypicolinamido)phenyl)benzo[D]oxazole-4-carboxylic acid is an antibacterial agent that inhibits the biosynthesis of 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid, a precursor to coryneform and leishmanial quinolones. Tetraacetyl-2-(3-hydroxy-2-(3-hydroxypicolinamido)phenyl)benzo[D]oxazole-4-carboxylic acid also inhibits the growth of Streptococcus species, Staphylococcus species, and Leishmania major. Tetraacetyl 2-(3-hydroxy-2-(3-hydroxypicolinamido)phenyl)benzo[D]oxazole 4 carboxylic acid has been shown to be active against C16 cells in vitro
