It also inhibits the activity of cholesteryl ester transfer protein, which plays an important role in the formation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. This drug has been shown to have a molecular weight of 197g/mol, with an n-oxide group and two amine groups. It is synthesized by reacting tetroxide with acetamide in the presence of an asymmetric synthesis catalyst.
