Product Information

Name:
Ethyl cyanoimidoformate
Synonyms:
  • methanimidic acid
  • cyano-
  • ethyl ester
Description:

Ethyl cyanoimidoformate is a growth regulator that is used in the production of amides and heterocyclic compounds. It is also used as a reagent for the catalytic reduction of imidazoles to amines, which are useful in organic chemistry. Ethyl cyanoimidoformate has been shown to react with primary amines and form secondary amines in an organic solvent at room temperature. This reaction is accelerated by irradiation or heat. The reaction can be done using synthons, such as ethyl acetoacetate and ethyl propionate. These synthons can be made from alkyl halides and alcohols using thiadiazolyl chlorides, which are agricultural depressants.
