3-Ethoxypyrazin-2-amine is a synthetic analgesic that is structurally related to zolpidem. It has been shown to have an analgesic effect in the rat paw pressure test. 3-Ethoxypyrazin-2-amine also exhibits antiinflammatory effects and inhibits cyclooxygenase, which mediates the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins. This drug has shown inhibitory activity against cyclooxygenase 1 and 2 enzymes as well as COX-1 and COX-2 isoforms. 3-Ethoxypyrazin-2-amine also has been shown to be effective in preventing bone resorption by inhibiting osteoclast activity in rats with induced bone loss. The spectra of this compound have been studied via NMR, IR, UV, and CD. Results show that it is a promising candidate for analgesic research because of its potent analgesic properties and low toxicity
