Description

Ethyl 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-5-carboxylate is a nucleoside phosphonate that is used in the synthesis of nucleotides and nucleosides. Ethyl 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-5-carboxylate inhibits viral replication by binding to the purine base in DNA and RNA. This compound has been shown to be effective against adefovir resistant strains of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). It also inhibits the synthesis of pyrimidine nucleotides and uracil nucleosides, which are important for viral replication.
