Description:

Erythromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits protein synthesis in bacteria by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. It has been shown to be effective against Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis. Erythromycin also has antibacterial efficacy against Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Chlamydia trachomatis, and Mycobacterium avium complex. The toxicological studies of erythromycin are limited by its widespread use for many years. Geriatric patients may be at higher risk for adverse effects as compared to younger adults due to the presence of physiological changes associated with aging. These include decreased renal function and decreased hepatic function which can lead to an increased risk of toxicity. Pergolide mesylate is a dopamine agonist that has been used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease. It has been shown to have some antibacterial efficacy against Stre
