It can be polymerized with styrene to create a copolymer. 1-Ethoxyethyl methacrylate has been shown to form an acidic copolymer by thermal and osmotic techniques at high salt concentrations, which can be used for different polymerization techniques such as coulombic or free radical polymerization. It is soluble in organic solvents and shows no adverse effects on living organisms when exposed to low concentrations (0.1%). 1-Ethoxyethyl methacrylate polymerizes into a hard material that can be used for a variety of applications, including in microscopy.
