This molecule also reacts with thiourea to form acylase, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the breakdown of carbohydrates into sugar molecules. Acetetoacetate can be synthesized from ethyl 2-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl)-2-methoxyiminoacetate when it reacts with 7-aminocephalosporanic acid.
