Description

1,2-Epoxypentane is a peroxy compound that can be used to generate an exothermic reaction. It is thermally stable and has a high boiling point, which makes it useful as a solvent. 1,2-Epoxypentane has good selectivity for the oxidation of aldehydes and can be used in chemical analyses to detect benzalkonium chloride. It is also used in polymerization reactions with epoxides to produce plates. 1,2-Epoxypentane is not mutagenic and does not have any adverse effects on human health when inhaled or ingested.
