Description:E3 ligase Ligand 1 is a ligand that is used to monitor e3 ligases in the laboratory. It is a protein with a molecular weight of approximately 40 kDa and contains a cysteine residue at its N-terminus. The fluorescein moiety is covalently attached to the lysine side chain of the cysteine residue. This fluorescent molecule can be photoactivated by irradiation with light in order to induce proteolysis and release the fluorescent product, which can then be monitored by fluorescence microscopy. E3 ligase Ligand 1 has been shown to degrader proteins in vitro, as well as being able to trigger photocaging reactions and cause photoactivation of fluorophores.
