Description:Etazolate is an ester hydrochloride that inhibits the activity of cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases, which are enzymes that degrade cyclic nucleotides. It is used to treat bowel diseases and physiological effects in rats. Etazolate has also been shown to increase the mitochondrial membrane potential, energy metabolism, and blood flow in rat hearts. Additionally, it has been shown to inhibit neuronal death and induce neurotrophic factors in rats with Parkinson's disease. Etazolate has a model system that includes pharmacological treatment and blood sampling in mice.
