Description

Ethyl 11-ethoxycarbonyldodecanoate is a nonpolar solvent with a viscosity of 0.8 mm2/s at 25°C. It is soluble in organic solvents such as chloroform, benzene, and carbon tetrachloride. Ethyl 11-ethoxycarbonyldodecanoate has been used as a hydrogen bond donor in the synthesis of polycarboxylic acids and as a solid catalyst for the polymerization of diacids. It also undergoes intramolecular hydrogenation to form dodecanedioic acid, which can be used to synthesize polyesters and polycarbonates. In addition, ethyl 11-ethoxycarbonyldodecanoate can be used in chemical reactions such as esterification and transesterification reactions.
