(R)-(+)-1,2-Epoxybutane is an enantiopure epoxide that is synthesized by the reaction of a chelate ring with epichlorohydrin. The synthesis of (R)-(+)-1,2-Epoxybutane is catalysed by palladium complexes and the product is stereoselectively obtained. The synthesis of this compound is bifunctional as it has both nucleophilic and electrophilic functional groups. (R)-(+)-1,2-Epoxybutane can be used to synthesize pharmaceuticals such as antibiotics and antihistamines. This chemical has been shown to have vibrational properties and resuspended in water.
