The drug is most often administered by injection or in a polymeric matrix that dissolves slowly in the mouth. The recommended dose is between 0.5mg and 1mg per day. Estradiol hemihydrate can be detected in plasma using an analytical method called liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).
