4-Epidoxycycline is a tetracycline antibiotic that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to bacterial ribosomes and blocking protein synthesis. This drug also has anti-inflammatory properties and can be used to treat bowel disease. 4-Epidoxycycline has been found to be effective in vivo models for experimental models of inflammatory lesions, such as ulcerative colitis, ileitis, or Crohn's disease. This antibiotic has not been shown to have any toxic effects on the heart or blood pressure.
