7-Ethoxy-4-methylcoumarin is a chemical compound that belongs to the coumarin derivatives. It is used in analytical methods to measure the activity of P450 isozymes. This compound reacts with the enzyme p-450 and inhibits its activity. 7-Ethoxy-4-methylcoumarin has been found to be a potential therapeutic agent for preventing obesity, by reducing the activity of proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9). The monoclonal antibodies against PCSK9 have also been shown to inhibit population growth in mice.
