• Description: Ethyl L-tosyllactate is a reagent that is used in organic synthesis. It reacts with alcohols, pyridines, and sulfonates to form alkyl bromides and esters. Ethyl L-tosyllactate is also used as a buffering agent in the preparation of metal complexes. The tert-butyl group is removed by oxidation to produce the corresponding alcohol, which can be further oxidized to an aldehyde or ketone.
