Euphroside is a natural product that belongs to the group of iridoid compounds. It has been shown to have various biological properties, including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, as well as antiviral effects. Euphroside has been used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat eye disorders and other diseases. Chromatographic separation of euphroside was achieved using a linear calibration curve with an R2 value of 0.9993. This compound has also been identified as one of the major active constituents in Verbascum sinaiticum, a herb used for treating dry eyes and other eye disorders. Euphroside has not been found to be toxic at higher doses in vitro assays, but it is toxic when administered orally in vivo. The LD50 for intravenous administration is greater than 100 mg/kg body weight (bw) in mice, rats, and dogs.
