Description

Ethyl 4-chlorosulfonylbenzoate (ECSB) is a potent inhibitor of histone deacetylases. It has been shown to have inhibitory activity against cholinesterases and to be an antioxidant. ECBS has potent inhibition activity against histone deacetylases and can be used for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and other diseases with oxidative stress. Mechanistic studies suggest that ECBS inhibits the catalytic activity of HDACs by binding to the catalytic site, which is different from other HDAC inhibitors. ECBS also has potential as a lead compound for therapeutic development of antioxidant agents and treatments for neurodegenerative diseases.
