4-Fluoro-2-nitrotoluene is a synthetic compound that can be used in the synthesis of other compounds. It is electron deficient with electrophilic properties and has two nitro groups. 4-Fluoro-2-nitrotoluene is also a biomolecule that can be used as an intermediate for the production of other chemicals, such as pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, dyes, and pesticides. This molecule also has been validated by descriptor regression to predict its hydrophobicities. 4-Fluoro-2-nitrotoluene is synthesized from 2,4 dichloro nitrobenzene by treatment with sodium nitrite in dry acetone followed by hydrochloric acid. The functionalities on this molecule include fluoro (at position 2), arene (at position 3), and nitro (at position 5).
