Description

Fluorooxindole is a heterobicyclic compound that has been shown to have anticancer activity in animals. The synthesis of this molecule involves an asymmetric process, which starts from the aldehyde malonic acid and the ketone fluorooxindole-5-carboxylic acid. This molecule inhibits tumor growth by inhibiting tumor cell proliferation and inducing apoptosis. Fluorooxindole is also known to have antinociceptive and anticancer activities, as demonstrated by its ability to inhibit the development of hyperalgesia and the carcinogenicity induced by 7,12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene in mice.
