2-Fluoro-4-nitrobenzoic acid (2F4NBA) is an antibiotic that inhibits the growth of bacteria by blocking their amination reactions. 2F4NBA has been shown to be effective against multidrug-resistant pathogens, such as methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus and vancomycin resistant Enterococci. The drug has also been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vivo studies and can be used for the treatment of primary tumors. It is a benzoate analogue with a benzimidazole derivative structure, which is fluorescent and analytical chemistry compatible. 2F4NBA has good pharmacokinetic properties, with a half life time between 4 and 8 hours.
